How Can Writing Help Me (short version)

Writing can be a powerful tool for anyone who is:
  • struggling with trauma,
  • struggling with mental illness,
  • struggling with chronic pain/illness,
  • experiencing grief and loss,
  • in therapy
  • trying to make a big decision
  • wanting to engage in self-discovery
  • wanting to engage in self-growth
  • wanting to examine their life or an aspect of their life
  • wanting to figure out why they are reacting to something in a particular way
  • wanting to make sense of their thoughts and emotions

Writing helps by
  • Allowing us to arrange our thoughts into coherent complete sentences so that we can better understand them.
  • Giving you a safe space to release your thoughts and emotions without judgment
  • Unlocking subconscious thoughts and emotions that you may not be aware of
  • Gaining some distance from the situation
  • Exploring new perspectives
  • Connecting our mind and body, thus releasing subconscious or conscious emotions stored in the body.
  • Gaining control over your thoughts and emotions
  • Reshaping your narrative which can inspire hope, freedom and healing.

Writing is most beneficial when:
  • It is done under the guidance of a professional like me
  • Utilizes a range of various types of writing, specifically tailored to you and your situation/life
  • Talked through with someone like me

Writing can help everyone. You do not need to be a good writer, nor do you need to have a serious problem. Writing can benefit everyone equally.
